Chad Howlett, a native of Annawan, Illinois, has roots in the beef business, and he always knew a career in the industry helping producers was his calling. Currently the beef business and technical manager for Vita Plus Corporation, he says that his well-rounded education at the University of Illinois helped him land his dream job.
“I draw on the scientific principles I learned in the classroom for my current career, and I had invaluable extracurricular experiences,” Chad said. “As a member of the livestock judging, meat animal evaluation, and academic quadrathlon teams, I was able to obtain and refine tools that cannot be taught in the classroom, and I pull on these skills every day as I perform my job.”
Chad provides support to beef producers to aid their decision making.
“From nutritional recommendations to management consultation to marketing service, producers turn to me for a lot of information as it pertains to their beef operation,” he said. “The customers I serve range in size from 200 to 50,000 head on the feedlot side to cow herds as small as 40 head to some of the most technically advanced bovine reproduction companies in the world.”
Chad enjoys his direct work with beef producers, helping them achieve their goals and improve their bottom line.
