Dr. Wes Keller is in the clinic and on call, dedicated to the science of his profession and providing health care to his patients. A veterinarian at a mixed-animal clinic in Shelbyville, Illinois, Wes specializes in bovine reproduction, herd health management, and soft tissue surgery.
Wes likes the variety his career provides. “I grew up on a grain and livestock operation and have a passion for beef production, but as a vet I get to work with a variety of species, and it keeps things interesting.”
Wes works closely with livestock producers to optimize the health, nutrition, and reproductive performance of their herds, helping ensure the highest quality, most efficient product possible.
Using cutting-edge technologies to serve his clients in the cattle industry has been one of Wes’s most interesting experiences to date. He said being involved with bovine embryo transplant is one of his favorite tasks.
Wes credits his education at the University of Illinois with being an invaluable asset. “My experience with the animal science program was excellent. The learning environment and teaching faculty were second to none, and they fully prepared me to continue on a successful path working in animal agriculture.”
