The Dominican Republic, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, Uruguay, Honduras, Montenegro and Serbia are just a few of the countries Erika Voogd has traveled to for her independent meat-processing consulting company, Voogd Consulting, Inc.
“I enjoy working with people all over the world and helping them improve their companies through the humane handling of animals, food safety recommendations, plant sanitation practices and better employee training in order to meet USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service regulations,” she said.
Before founding her company, Voogd traveled to the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, China and Taiwan through her corporate quality assurance position with the OSI Group, LLC, a global food provider.
“People will always need to eat, so a career in the meat or food industry is a place where skilled professionals are required, especially today with so much interest in nutrition, health, diet and food safety,” she said.
Voogd said her success in the food industry can be easily measured years later through the forged relationships that continue to grow.
“The diversity of consulting experiences has given me a huge appreciation for cultural differences and the similarity we all share regarding our passion to provide safe, high-quality products for meat-loving customers,” she said.
