Experiential Learning Requirement

The animal sciences curriculum requires you to participate in an experiential learning activity in order to expose you to many aspects of animal sciences, society, and culture and offer you an opportunity to engage in learning at a personal level. These experiences also allow you to demonstrate your capacity to solve real-life problems in real-life environments and provide you with insights that will help you explore your career interests.

This requirement is fulfilled through at least one graded hour of enrollment in ANSC 398 and completion of a work product. These work products will allow you to reflect upon your learning and relate your experiential learning to other parts of your curriculum. They will also provide concrete records of your experiences to use in the ANSC 498 Integrating Animal Sciences course during your senior year.

Planning your ANSC 398 experience is up to you. It can be almost anything you want it to be as long as it is an experience that relates to Animal Sciences. You will select a faculty instructor to oversee your experience and agree with them on the specifics of what is required. In order to enroll in ANSC 398, you must first complete the Memorandum of Agreement with your faculty instructor.

Information about ANSC 398 can be found using the links at the top of this page, and questions regarding this course can be directed to Animal Sciences Advisors at
