Animal Sciences Ambassadors

The Animal Sciences Ambassadors are a diverse group of students who represent our department to our future students, aid and design activities for our current students, and provide student representation to our alumni and guests.

  • Ambassador Bio: Taylor is a Junior in the Animal Science Department and is pursuing her dream to become a Farm Animal Veterinarian. She dreams to one day open up her own clinic. Taylor is very involved on campus, working in a swine research lab, and on the Board of Directors for the Illini Media Company.

  • Ambassador Bio: Katelyn is interested in the production livestock industry. She plans to pursue graduate school to study either swine nutrition or meat science. Currently, she is on the Meats Judging Team and is pursuing an internship with Smithfield Hog Production.

  • Ambassador Bio: Meagan is a senior in Animal Sciences. Her goal is to attend veterinary school, studying small animal medicine. In the future, she plans to own her own clinic. Meagan also has an interest in muscle biology, in which she is doing her research.

  • Ambassador Bio: Yolonda is a Junior in our Animal Sciences department with a Companion Animal concentration. After graduation, she will continue her studies to obtain a Ph. D. in Animal Behavior in hopes of becoming a Certified Animal Behaviorist.

  • Ambassador Bio: Erin is a Junior concentrating in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Erin grew up on a small beef farm 20 minutes away from UIUC. After graduating she is planning on pursuing a MS and then applying to vet school in hopes of becoming a mixed animal veterinarian.

  • Ambassador Bio: Hannah plans to attend veterinary school after graduation and study small animal medicine.  She hopes to one day own her own clinic.  Hannah is involved in Pre-Vet club on campus along with Campus Girl Scouts.  Hannah is a lifelong Girl Scout and earned her Girl Scout Gold Award.

  • Ambassador Bio: Izzy Fleming is a Junior in Animal Sciences. She wants to attend Vet school after she graduates. She loves working with large and small animals. She enjoys hiking, dog walking, and playing sports.

  • Ambassador Bio: Kelly is very interested in animal behavior, exotic animals, and wildlife conservation. She hopes to combine these interests by attending graduate school and pursuing a career in wildlife animal behavior. Kelly has developed these passions by completing internships at zoos and wildlife centers.

  • Ambassador Bio: Hailey is a junior in animal sciences with a minor in integrative biology. She plans to pursue a career in zoo veterinary medicine or go to grad school studying animal neuroscience. She currently works as a lab assistant in Ryan Dilger's lab focusing on neuroscience and nutrition.

  • Ambassador Bio: I am a transfer student from Lincoln Land Community College, and am a member of the Livestock Judging team. My family raises Hereford cattle, and I have been showing my entire life. I hope to go to grad school and study ruminant nutrition and eventually work for a nutrition company.

  • Ambassador Bio: After graduating from the University of Illinois, Caroline hopes to attend veterinary school and graduate with her DVM and PhD. In her future career, she hopes to combine her interests in genetics, equine studies, and reproduction and specialize in equine medicine, theriogenology, or surgery.

  • Ambassador Bio: My name is Hassna Khadour and I am currently a Senior majoring in Animal Sciences. My goal is to get my masters in either dairy nutrition or reproduction and then attend veterinary school while studying mixed medicine.

  • Ambassador Bio: Sara works in a neuroscience/nutrition lab, as well as a reproduction lab in which she is conducting a project. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology or Biochemistry. She hopes to stay in academia and ultimately manage her own lab.

  • Ambassador Bio: Cheyenne is a Junior in Animal Sciences with plans to attend Graduate School and then Vet School. She works at the University of Illinois Horse Farm and is a Jonathan Baldwin Turner Scholar. She is also the 2017 Miss Pana Tri-County Fair Queen and is a secondary trainer in the Illini Service Dogs.

  • Ambassador Bio: Samantha would like to attend the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine to become a predominantly large animal veterinarian focusing on beef cattle medicine and eventually own and operate her own clinic.

  • Ambassador Bio: Hayley Nagelberg is a sophomore from New Jersey majoring in Animal Sciences and minoring in Social Work.  Her goal is to continue her education by attending school for Occupational Therapy.  She ultimately wants to use companion animals and farm animals as therapeutic aids for kids with special need

  • Ambassador Bio: Julie is a senior in Animal Sciences from Marissa, a rural town in Southern Illinois which has helped foster her love of large animals. Eventually she would like to become a mixed practice veterinarian. She loves playing the piano, taking pictures, and hanging out with her husband and friends.
